Description

This Cajun Salmon Avocado Lime recipe features perfectly seared and baked salmon fillets seasoned with bold Cajun spices, topped with a fresh and zesty avocado-lime mixture. It’s a flavorful, healthy dish that balances the spicy warmth of Cajun seasoning with the creamy, tangy avocado topping, making it an incredible essential for any seafood lover.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Avocado Lime Topping

  • 1 ripe avocado, diced
  • 1 lime (juice and zest)
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for baking the salmon.
  2. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of each fillet with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper to infuse them with flavor.
  3. Heat the oil: Place an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Allow it to heat up until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Sear the salmon: Add the salmon fillets skin-side down to the hot skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  5. Flip the fillets: Carefully turn the salmon over and cook the other side for an additional 2 minutes to develop some color.
  6. Bake the salmon: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake the salmon for 8-10 minutes, or until it is cooked through and easily flakes with a fork.
  7. Prepare avocado lime mixture: While the salmon bakes, combine the diced avocado, lime juice, and lime zest in a bowl. Gently mix to combine all the flavors together.
  8. Add cilantro: If using, chop fresh cilantro and stir it into the avocado mixture for an herbal, fresh finish.
  9. Serve: Once the salmon is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Spoon the avocado lime topping over each fillet and serve immediately for a delicious, balanced meal.

Notes

  • Use an oven-safe skillet to seamlessly transition from stovetop searing to oven baking.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning amount to control the spice level to your preference.
  • Choose ripe avocados for a creamy texture in the topping.
  • Fresh cilantro is optional but highly recommended to brighten the avocado lime mixture.
  • Make sure to not overcook the salmon to keep it moist and flaky.
