Ingredients
Scale
Salmon and Seasoning
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Avocado Lime Topping
- 1 ripe avocado, diced
- 1 lime (juice and zest)
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for baking the salmon.
- Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of each fillet with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper to infuse them with flavor.
- Heat the oil: Place an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Allow it to heat up until shimmering but not smoking.
- Sear the salmon: Add the salmon fillets skin-side down to the hot skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
- Flip the fillets: Carefully turn the salmon over and cook the other side for an additional 2 minutes to develop some color.
- Bake the salmon: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake the salmon for 8-10 minutes, or until it is cooked through and easily flakes with a fork.
- Prepare avocado lime mixture: While the salmon bakes, combine the diced avocado, lime juice, and lime zest in a bowl. Gently mix to combine all the flavors together.
- Add cilantro: If using, chop fresh cilantro and stir it into the avocado mixture for an herbal, fresh finish.
- Serve: Once the salmon is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Spoon the avocado lime topping over each fillet and serve immediately for a delicious, balanced meal.
Notes
- Use an oven-safe skillet to seamlessly transition from stovetop searing to oven baking.
- Adjust Cajun seasoning amount to control the spice level to your preference.
- Choose ripe avocados for a creamy texture in the topping.
- Fresh cilantro is optional but highly recommended to brighten the avocado lime mixture.
- Make sure to not overcook the salmon to keep it moist and flaky.
