Description

Delight in these Cinnamon Cream Cheese Pastry Puffs, a perfect blend of buttery biscuit dough filled with a smooth cinnamon-spiced cream cheese filling. Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these puffs are easy to prepare and make a wonderful treat for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Dough

  • 1 (12 oz) tube Grands!® Jr. Golden Layers Butter Tastin’ Biscuits

Topping

  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sugar (for sprinkling)
  • Optional: powdered sugar and milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and well combined, creating your creamy cinnamon filling.
  3. Shape Biscuits: Take each biscuit and flatten it gently into a 4 by 3-inch rectangle to create a thin layer ready for filling.
  4. Add Filling: Place a heaping tablespoon of the cinnamon cream cheese mixture in the center of each flattened biscuit, being careful not to overfill.
  5. Fold and Seal: Fold the long sides of the biscuit inward over the filling, tuck the ends underneath to seal the pastry, and then place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to maintain shape during baking.
  6. Apply Egg Wash and Sugar: Beat one large egg and brush it over each pastry puff for a golden finish. Sprinkle coarse sugar on top for added texture and sweetness.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes or until the puffs turn golden brown and puffed up beautifully.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the pastry puffs to cool slightly. Optionally, prepare a simple glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk, then drizzle it over the warm puffs for an extra touch of sweetness.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • Do not overfill the biscuits to prevent leaking during baking.
  • The glaze is optional but adds a lovely sweetness and finishing touch.
  • Use coarse sugar for a nice crunchy topping that contrasts with the soft filling.
  • These puffs are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
