Ingredients
Scale
Salad
- 6 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
- 2 cups grilled chicken breast, sliced
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- 1 large avocado, sliced
- ½ cup blue cheese, crumbled
Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
- ¾ cup buttermilk ranch dressing
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon dried dill
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Grill the Chicken: If using fresh chicken, grill the chicken breasts until fully cooked and juicy, then let them rest on a cutting board before slicing into strips.
- Prepare the Dressing: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, buttermilk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy. Chill the dressing in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Prepare Salad Ingredients: Peel and slice the hard-boiled eggs, halve the cherry tomatoes, and slice the avocado carefully to avoid browning.
- Assemble the Salad: On a large platter or in individual bowls, arrange the chopped romaine lettuce evenly as the base. Neatly arrange rows of sliced grilled chicken, tomatoes, eggs, avocado, and crumbled blue cheese on top of the greens.
- Add Dressing and Garnish: Drizzle the homemade buttermilk ranch dressing evenly over the salad. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top as a garnish to add a fresh herbal note and vibrant color.
- Serve: Serve the salad immediately to enjoy the crisp freshness of the greens and vegetables along with the creamy dressing and savory toppings.
Notes
- To save time, you can use pre-cooked or rotisserie chicken instead of grilling yourself.
- For extra crunch, consider adding chopped bacon bits or toasted nuts.
- If you don’t have buttermilk on hand, substitute with milk and a teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar, let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Consume soon after assembling to prevent avocado browning and lettuce wilting.
- Adjust salt and pepper in dressing according to taste.
