Description

This hearty cabbage soup combines tender cabbage, savory ground beef, and rich stewed tomatoes into a comforting and flavorful dish. Enhanced with Lipton Onion Soup Mix and aromatic vegetables, it’s an easy-to-make soup perfect for a healthy, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 large cabbage
  • 2 small onions, diced
  • 1 large celery stalk, chopped very small

Meat

  • 1-2 pounds ground beef

Other

  • 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
  • 1 pouch of Lipton Onion Soup Mix (any flavor)
  • Water (enough to fill saucepan halfway)
  • Spices of your choice (such as black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt to taste)

Instructions

  1. Boil water and cook vegetables: Fill a large saucepan halfway with water and bring it to a boil. Add the cabbage, diced onions, and finely chopped celery to the boiling water. Simmer until the vegetables start to soften, about 10-15 minutes.
  2. Brown the ground beef: Meanwhile, in a separate skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is fully browned. Drain any excess fat to keep the soup from becoming greasy.
  3. Add tomatoes and soup mix: Stir in the two cans of stewed tomatoes along with the entire pouch of Lipton Onion Soup Mix into the saucepan with the vegetables. Mix thoroughly to incorporate all flavors.
  4. Combine beef and simmer: Add the cooked ground beef into the soup. Continue to simmer the entire mixture for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Season and serve: Add your favorite spices to taste, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, or paprika. Serve the hot cabbage soup immediately and enjoy its comforting, hearty flavors.

Notes

  • For a leaner version, use 1 pound of lean ground beef or substitute with ground turkey.
  • You can add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for more color and nutrients.
  • Adjust seasoning according to your taste preference; the soup mix adds salt, so season lightly initially.
  • This soup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
