Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 large cabbage
- 2 small onions, diced
- 1 large celery stalk, chopped very small
Meat
- 1-2 pounds ground beef
Other
- 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
- 1 pouch of Lipton Onion Soup Mix (any flavor)
- Water (enough to fill saucepan halfway)
- Spices of your choice (such as black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt to taste)
Instructions
- Boil water and cook vegetables: Fill a large saucepan halfway with water and bring it to a boil. Add the cabbage, diced onions, and finely chopped celery to the boiling water. Simmer until the vegetables start to soften, about 10-15 minutes.
- Brown the ground beef: Meanwhile, in a separate skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is fully browned. Drain any excess fat to keep the soup from becoming greasy.
- Add tomatoes and soup mix: Stir in the two cans of stewed tomatoes along with the entire pouch of Lipton Onion Soup Mix into the saucepan with the vegetables. Mix thoroughly to incorporate all flavors.
- Combine beef and simmer: Add the cooked ground beef into the soup. Continue to simmer the entire mixture for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Season and serve: Add your favorite spices to taste, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, or paprika. Serve the hot cabbage soup immediately and enjoy its comforting, hearty flavors.
Notes
- For a leaner version, use 1 pound of lean ground beef or substitute with ground turkey.
- You can add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for more color and nutrients.
- Adjust seasoning according to your taste preference; the soup mix adds salt, so season lightly initially.
- This soup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
