Coloring & Decorations

  • Purple gel food coloring
  • Black gel food coloring
  • Purple sprinkles
  • ½ cup black or chocolate sprinkles


Instructions

  1. Prepare Butter and Sugar: Beat the unsalted butter and powdered sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy to create a smooth and creamy base.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Incorporate the eggs and milk into the butter-sugar mix, beating until the batter is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients and Flavor Extracts: Add the all-purpose flour, salt, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the wet ingredients. Mix thoroughly to form a firm dough.
  4. Divide and Color the Dough: Split the dough into three parts. Tint one half of the dough purple using purple gel food coloring. Then divide the remaining half into two portions, coloring one black and leaving one plain white.
  5. Roll Black Dough: Roll the black-colored dough into a rectangular shape measuring approximately 6×12 inches.
  6. Layer White Dough: Roll out the white dough to the same dimensions and place it directly on top of the black dough. Roll lightly to ensure the layers stick together properly.
  7. Roll Purple Dough with Sprinkles: Roll the purple dough to the same size as the layered black and white dough. Sprinkle purple sprinkles over the purple dough, then carefully roll it into a log shape to prepare for slicing.
