Description
Mini Smash Burger Sliders are perfect bite-sized burgers made with juicy ground beef patties smashed thin for crispy edges, topped with melted cheese and classic fresh toppings, all served on soft slider buns. Quick to prepare and cook, these sliders are ideal for parties, family meals, or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Patties
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cooking oil (for frying)
For the Sliders
- 12 slider buns
- 12 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced (optional)
- Lettuce leaves (for topping)
- Tomato slices (for topping)
- Pickles (for topping)
- Ketchup and mustard (for serving)
Instructions
- Gather Ingredients: Lay out all ingredients so they are easily accessible for quick assembly and cooking.
- Heat the Pan: Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add a small amount of cooking oil to lightly coat the surface.
- Form Patties: Divide the ground beef into 12 equal portions of about 2 ounces each. Gently shape each portion into a loose ball without compacting too much.
- Smash Patties: Place a beef ball on the hot skillet and use a spatula to firmly press it down into a thin patty. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook Patties: Let the patties cook without moving for 2-3 minutes until the edges become crispy and browned.
- Flip and Add Cheese: Carefully flip each patty and immediately place a slice of cheese on top. Cook an additional 1-2 minutes to allow cheese to melt.
- Toast Buns: While the patties cook, split slider buns and toast them lightly in the skillet or toaster.
- Sauté Onions (Optional): In a separate pan, sauté the thinly sliced onions until they are caramelized and golden brown.
- Assemble Sliders: Place each cooked patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Add desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and sautéed onions.
- Finish and Serve: Top sliders with the bun tops. Secure with toothpicks if desired. Serve immediately with ketchup and mustard on the side.
Notes
- Use 80/20 ground beef for the best balance of flavor and juiciness.
- Do not over-handle the meat to keep the patties tender.
- Semi-thin smashed patties ensure crispy edges and quick cooking.
- Caramelized onions add a sweet and rich element but are optional.
- Serve sliders immediately for optimal freshness and texture.
