Description

This Miso-Glazed Roasted Salmon recipe offers a quick and flavorful dinner option featuring tender salmon fillets marinated in a savory miso blend and roasted to perfection. Enhanced with garlic, ginger, and a sweet soy-honey glaze, it’s a balanced, nutritious meal that pairs beautifully with steamed rice and fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 fillets Salmon (fresh or thawed)

Marinade

  • 1/4 cup White miso paste (or red miso for bolder flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce (gluten-free option available)
  • 2 tablespoons Honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil (or canola/vegetable oil)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced, fresh preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger (grated, ground can be used)

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (for garnish, toasted enhances flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped green onions (for garnish, adds freshness)

Instructions

  1. Whisk Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine white miso paste, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk everything until smooth and well blended.
  2. Marinate Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag and pour the miso marinade over them. Ensure each piece is well coated and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Preheat Oven: While the salmon is marinating, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for roasting.
  4. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  5. Arrange Fillets: Place the marinated salmon fillets on the baking sheet skin side down, spacing them evenly.
  6. Roast Salmon: Roast the salmon in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon is fully cooked, flakes easily with a fork, and has a slightly caramelized glaze.
  7. Garnish: Remove the salmon from the oven and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions to add texture and freshness.
  8. Serve: Serve the miso-glazed roasted salmon hot, accompanied by steamed rice and seasonal vegetables for a complete and balanced meal.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute salmon with firm tofu and use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • Using red miso paste will give a stronger, deeper flavor compared to white miso.
  • To toast sesame seeds, lightly heat them in a dry pan over medium heat until golden and fragrant.
  • Marinating longer than 15 minutes is possible but avoid exceeding 1 hour to prevent the miso overpowering the fish.
  • Make sure the oven is fully preheated to ensure even cooking and a nice glaze on the salmon.
