Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Layer
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 can (7 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Pinch of salt
White Chocolate Peppermint Layer
- 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
- 1/2 can (7 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
Topping
- 1/3 cup crushed peppermint candies
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy lifting later. Lightly grease the parchment paper to ensure the fudge doesn’t stick.
- Make the Chocolate Layer: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, half of the sweetened condensed milk (7 oz), 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, and a pinch of salt. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until the chocolate is thoroughly melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Make the White Chocolate Peppermint Layer: In a separate bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the remaining 7 oz of sweetened condensed milk and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. Stir until completely smooth, then gently fold in the peppermint extract to infuse the mixture with a refreshing mint flavor.
- Layer and Swirl: Spread the semi-sweet chocolate mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Pour the white chocolate peppermint mixture over the top. Using a skewer or knife, gently swirl the two layers together to create a marbled peppermint effect.
- Add Toppings: Evenly sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the surface of the fudge. Press them gently into the top to ensure they stick.
- Chill: Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for at least 3 hours or until the fudge is firm to the touch and fully set.
- Slice and Serve: Once set, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan. Slice into 36 small, bite-sized squares using a sharp knife. Enjoy or package for gifting.
Notes
- Use good quality chocolate chips for the best flavor and texture.
- Make sure to properly grease the parchment paper to avoid sticking.
- Crushed peppermint candies can be substituted with candy canes if preferred.
- The fudge should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consumed within one week.
- For a smoother swirl, avoid over-mixing the chocolate layers.
