Description

This Peppermint Swirl Fudge is a delightful holiday treat combining rich semi-sweet and creamy white chocolate, with a refreshing hint of peppermint and a festive candy topping. Easy to prepare with no baking required, this fudge is perfect for gifting or enjoying at home during the winter season.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 can (7 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Pinch of salt

White Chocolate Peppermint Layer

  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 can (7 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

Topping

  • 1/3 cup crushed peppermint candies

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy lifting later. Lightly grease the parchment paper to ensure the fudge doesn’t stick.
  2. Make the Chocolate Layer: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, half of the sweetened condensed milk (7 oz), 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, and a pinch of salt. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until the chocolate is thoroughly melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Make the White Chocolate Peppermint Layer: In a separate bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the remaining 7 oz of sweetened condensed milk and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. Stir until completely smooth, then gently fold in the peppermint extract to infuse the mixture with a refreshing mint flavor.
  4. Layer and Swirl: Spread the semi-sweet chocolate mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Pour the white chocolate peppermint mixture over the top. Using a skewer or knife, gently swirl the two layers together to create a marbled peppermint effect.
  5. Add Toppings: Evenly sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the surface of the fudge. Press them gently into the top to ensure they stick.
  6. Chill: Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for at least 3 hours or until the fudge is firm to the touch and fully set.
  7. Slice and Serve: Once set, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan. Slice into 36 small, bite-sized squares using a sharp knife. Enjoy or package for gifting.

Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate chips for the best flavor and texture.
  • Make sure to properly grease the parchment paper to avoid sticking.
  • Crushed peppermint candies can be substituted with candy canes if preferred.
  • The fudge should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consumed within one week.
  • For a smoother swirl, avoid over-mixing the chocolate layers.
