Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Batter
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp salt
Cream Cheese Frosting
- 4 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later, and set it aside.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the butter until melted. Transfer it to a large mixing bowl, add the granulated sugar, and stir until combined. Then add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing thoroughly until smooth and evenly colored.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until everything is just combined and no pockets of flour remain, being careful not to overmix.
- Bake the Brownies: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat the room temperature cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, beating until fluffy and well combined.
- Frost and Serve: Once the brownies have completely cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top. Cut into 16 squares and serve.
Notes
- Use room temperature eggs and cream cheese for smoother mixing and better texture.
- Be careful not to overbake the brownies to keep them moist and fudgy.
- Red food coloring intensity can be adjusted according to your preference.
- Ensure the brownies are fully cooled before frosting to prevent melting.
- Store frosted brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
