Description

Strawberry Jello Salad is a refreshing, easy-to-make dessert featuring a sweetened strawberry gelatin base combined with whipped topping and frozen strawberries for a light, fruity treat perfect for gatherings or potlucks.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Mixture

  • 1 6-ounce package Strawberry Jello gelatin (not sugar free)
  • 2 cups very hot water
  • ¾ cup cold water

Mix-ins

  • 8 oz tub Cool Whip (thawed)
  • 1 pound frozen strawberries (sliced)

Instructions

  1. Mix Gelatin: In a large casserole dish, combine the Strawberry Jello gelatin with 2 cups very hot water and ¾ cup cold water. Stir thoroughly until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
  2. Chill Until Thickened: Refrigerate the gelatin mixture for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, allowing it to begin thickening but still be slightly runny.
  3. Whip the Gelatin: Using a whisk or electric mixer, beat the partially set gelatin until it becomes foamy and thick. This adds a light texture to the salad.
  4. Add Toppings and Strawberries: Gently fold in the thawed Cool Whip, then carefully fold in the frozen sliced strawberries to maintain their shape.
  5. Refrigerate to Set: Place the mixture back in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 hours or until fully firm and ready to serve.

Notes

  • For best texture, make sure the Cool Whip is thawed before mixing.
  • You can substitute fresh strawberries if preferred; just halve or slice them as needed.
  • Do not use sugar-free Jello if you want the traditional sweetness and texture.
  • Gently folding the whipped topping and strawberries prevents the mixture from deflating.
  • This salad is best served chilled on a hot day or as a light dessert after meals.
