Description

This white pizza features a crispy golden crust topped with creamy ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, delicate slices of prosciutto, and a sweet-spicy drizzle of hot honey. Finished with fresh basil leaves, it offers a perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Cheese and Toppings

  • 1 cup fresh ricotta cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz thinly sliced prosciutto
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Finishing Touches

  • 2 tbsp hot honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it inside the oven while it heats to help achieve a crispier crust.
  2. Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to about 12 inches in diameter ensuring the thickness is even to allow for uniform cooking.
  3. Add Cheese Layers: Spread the fresh ricotta cheese evenly over the dough. Then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top to create a creamy and melty base.
  4. Top with Prosciutto: Arrange thin slices of prosciutto evenly over the cheese layer, adding a salty and savory flavor contrast.
  5. Drizzle Olive Oil and Bake: Lightly drizzle the olive oil over the toppings. Bake the pizza directly on the oven rack or pizza stone for 12-15 minutes until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  6. Add Hot Honey and Garnish: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately drizzle the hot honey over the top to add a sweet and spicy kick. Finish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute hot honey with regular honey and add a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired for a spicy note.
  • Using a pizza stone helps achieve a crispier crust but is optional; a baking sheet works fine as well.
  • Let the pizza rest for a couple of minutes after baking to allow the cheese to set slightly and facilitate easier slicing.
  • Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat in a hot oven to maintain crispness.
